Trident Maple Tree Seeds    (Acer buergerianum)

The Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum) is a stunning small maple tree prized for its vibrant fall foliage, attractive form, and versatility. Perfect as a lawn specimen, patio or shade tree, or for bonsai cultivation, this maple is one of the most popular in the world. Its dark green leaves transform to brilliant yellows, oranges, and reds in autumn, providing a spectacular display. The bark is smooth and grey on young trees and flakes with age to reveal cinnamon-colored patches, adding year-round visual interest.

Highly adaptable, the Trident Maple tolerates a range of soils with light to moderate moisture and establishes quickly. In spring, new leaves emerge with a soft orange tinge, turning green in summer, and developing fiery autumn colors. For bonsai enthusiasts, it is vigorous, responsive to pruning, and capable of forming a dense ramification and small leaves, making it ideal for beginners and advanced growers alike. Frost-sensitive; bring indoors if freezing temperatures are expected.

Trident Maple Germination:

1) Pull off the papery wings and place in water for 24 hours.

2) Place seeds in a zip lock bag with a bit of damp sand or vermiculite.

3) Place seeds in the fridge for 90 days to give them cold stratification. Check them every few weeks to make sure they stay damp. "Not Wet"

4) Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep, keeping the soil moist, not wet.

5) Expect germination within 2 weeks up to a month. Don't toss ones that don't sprout as quickly as others. They just need more time.

"No mojadas"
