Beginners can start with relatively easy and rewarding species such as Chinese Windmill Palm, Dwarf Palmetto Palm, Bird of Paradise, Dwarf Pomegranate, Travelers Palm, and Papaya. Papaya is especially interesting because, under the right conditions, plants grown from seed can potentially produce fruit within approximately 10–12 months. Banana, Coffee, and many other tropical species are also popular choices for indoor growers.
