Sweet Acacia Tree Seeds (Vachellia farnesiana)
The Vachellia farnesiana, commonly known as Sweet Acacia, Sweet Wattle, or Huisache, is a fast-growing evergreen shrub or small ornamental tree prized for its intensely fragrant golden-yellow pom-pom flowers and feathery mimosa-like foliage. Native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, this highly drought-tolerant species is widely admired for its graceful appearance and sweet floral fragrance.
Sweet Acacia produces masses of small round golden blossoms that bloom heavily from late winter into spring, often filling the air with a rich violet-like perfume. The finely divided fern-like foliage gives the plant a soft tropical appearance year-round, making it an excellent ornamental specimen for warm climates.
This species is highly adaptable and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. Once established, it is exceptionally drought tolerant and heat resistant, making it ideal for xeriscaping, desert gardens, wildlife habitats, and low-maintenance landscapes. Mature plants can reach approximately 15–25 feet tall but may be pruned to maintain a smaller size.
Sweet Acacia also provides habitat and nectar for bees, butterflies, and pollinators while producing decorative seed pods and thorny branches that can create natural screening or wildlife cover.
