Star Glory Seeds (Ipomoea quamoclit)
The Ipomoea quamoclit, commonly known as Star Glory or Cardinal Creeper Vine, is a fast-growing tropical climbing vine native to Central and South America. It is widely admired for its delicate fern-like foliage and brilliant scarlet star-shaped flowers that create a dramatic ornamental display in warm-season gardens.
This vigorous vine grows rapidly, reaching lengths of 10–20 feet, and requires a trellis, fence, or other support structure to climb. Although it behaves as a tender perennial in frost-free climates, it is often grown as an annual in cooler regions, where it readily reseeds itself for regrowth in spring.
The finely divided foliage gives the plant a soft, airy texture, while the small tubular flowers bloom in vibrant red clusters from early summer until the first frost. These blooms are highly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
Star Glory thrives in full sun and warm conditions, and grows best in well-draining soil. It is highly adaptable and can quickly cover trellises, arbors, fences, and garden structures, adding vertical color and movement to landscapes.
