Pink Orchid Tree Seeds (Bauhinia monandra)

The Bauhinia monandra, commonly known as Pink Orchid Tree or Pink Butterfly Orchid Tree, is a fast-growing tropical ornamental tree prized for its striking orchid-like pink flowers and high attraction to pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and birds. Native to tropical regions, this evergreen to semi-deciduous species is widely cultivated as a decorative landscape tree in warm climates.

Known for its elegant branching structure and continuous blooming habit, the Pink Orchid Tree produces soft pink, orchid-shaped flowers that stand out vividly against its green foliage. These unique blooms give the tree a graceful, tropical appearance and make it a favorite for ornamental gardens and tropical landscaping projects.

This small, fast-growing tree typically reaches 8–12 feet tall in cultivation, though it can grow larger in ideal tropical environments. It develops smooth gray bark that may become slightly textured and reddish-brown with age. Its compact size and vibrant flowering make it suitable for gardens, patios, and even large containers in warm climates.

Pink Orchid Tree is highly valued not only for its beauty but also for its ability to attract beneficial wildlife, making it an excellent choice for pollinator-friendly gardens.

Pink Orchard Germination:

1) Scarify the seeds by rubbing with rough grit sandpaper until the hard shell will absorb water. (Not too deep)

2) Soak the seeds overnight in hot water. Use a thermos so it will stay warm as long as possible.

3) Sow the seeds 1-2 cm deep in sandy well drained potting soil, placed in a warm position and kept moist, not soaking wet. Using a heated propagator mat to keep the soil at 77 degrees F. is a must.

4) Cover with a humidity dome, or a small piece of plastic with a few small holes cut into it. This will help hold the heat and humidity in for them.

5) Germination should occur within 3-4 weeks but it can take longer as with most any tropical seeds, so don't give up.

(No lije demasiado profundo).
