The Centaurea montana, commonly known as Mountain Blue Cornflower or Perennial Cornflower, is a hardy flowering perennial prized for its striking violet-blue blooms and long-lasting garden performance. Mountain Blue Germination:

1) Fill pots or treys with a commercial seed starting mix, being sure the containers are at least 3 inches deep.

2) Moisten the soil, and sow 3 seeds per container. Cover with only 1/2 inch of soil as it is very important that it stays dark with no light.

3) Cover the containers with plastic to retain moisture and keep high humidity levels.

4) Use a heated propagator mat to be sure that temperatures stay at 70 degrees F, or a few degrees higher.

5) Expect germination in 3-4 weeks. Be sure to remove the plastic as soon as they germinate and then give them bright light, but not full sun at first.
