Golden Mimosa Tree Seeds (Acacia baileyana)
The Acacia baileyana, commonly known as Golden Mimosa or Cootamundra Wattle, is a fast-growing evergreen ornamental tree admired for its brilliant golden-yellow flowers, soft fern-like foliage, and sweet fragrance. Native to Australia, this highly decorative acacia is widely planted for its tropical appearance and vibrant winter-to-spring floral display.
Golden Mimosa produces masses of bright yellow puffball-like flowers that cover the branches in late winter through spring, creating one of the most striking flowering displays among ornamental trees. The fragrant blossoms contrast beautifully against the finely divided blue-green to silvery fern-like foliage, giving the tree a soft, elegant appearance throughout the year.
This species develops into a graceful evergreen shrub or small tree that can exceed 25 feet tall under ideal conditions, though it can easily be pruned to maintain a smaller size for patios, containers, or compact landscapes. Its airy branching habit and feathery leaves create a tropical, Zen-like garden aesthetic often associated with Asian-style landscapes.
Golden Mimosa is highly drought tolerant once established and performs best in full sun with well-drained soils. It adapts well to a variety of climates and can also be grown in large containers, making it possible to overwinter indoors in colder regions.
