Giant Tall Sunflower Seeds (Helianthus giganteus)

The Helianthus giganteus, commonly known as Giant Sunflower or Tall Sunflower, is a striking native North American perennial sunflower valued for its towering growth habit and late-season golden blooms. This hardy wildflower naturally occurs in moist meadows, prairies, and woodland edges, where it forms impressive stands of tall flowering stems.

Giant Sunflower produces bright golden-yellow daisy-like flowers that appear in late summer through early fall, often when many other garden plants have finished blooming. Each plant can produce multiple blooms per stalk, typically around 2–3 inches wide, creating a vibrant display of color during the late season garden transition.

This species can grow into large clumps of tall upright stems, with height depending strongly on soil moisture, sunlight, and growing conditions. In ideal environments, it becomes one of the most dramatic native sunflower species, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators in abundance.

As a native perennial, it is well adapted to a wide range of conditions but performs best in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. It thrives particularly well in naturalized areas, meadow plantings, and wildlife gardens.
