Dwarf Sensitive Plant Seeds (Mimosa pudica)
The Mimosa pudica, commonly known as Sensitive Plant or Touch-Me-Not, is a fascinating tropical plant famous for its rapid leaf movement in response to touch, vibration, or temperature changes. Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, this unique species is widely grown as both an ornamental garden plant and a novelty houseplant.
This dwarf form produces delicate, fern-like foliage composed of small leaflets that instantly fold inward when touched or disturbed. This movement is part of the plant’s natural defense mechanism. The leaves also close at night, reopening again in daylight. This interactive behavior makes it a highly popular plant for indoor growing and educational gardens.
Sensitive Plant produces small, light purple to pink pom-pom-like flowers that appear throughout the warm growing season. While young plants grow upright, they gradually develop a low, spreading or creeping habit as they mature.
This species thrives in warm, bright conditions and requires plenty of sunlight to remain healthy and responsive. It prefers well-draining, loamy soil and consistent moisture without waterlogging. Although it is a tropical plant, it can be easily grown indoors in pots, making it accessible to growers in a wide range of climates.

Sensitive Plant Germination:
1) Rub seeds with a piece of sandpaper to scarify.
2) Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours.
3) Press seeds into a well mixed & draining seed starting mix, but do not cover them completely as they need light to germinate.
4) Use a heated propagator mat to keep the soil at 75 degrees F., and keep them exposed to bright light.
5) When kept at 75 degrees F., expect germination to occur within 21-40 days. Cooler temperatures will result in longer germination time.
