CHILEAN FIREBUSH TREE SEEDS (Embothrium coccineum)
Chilean Firebush, is a stunning ornamental tree prized for its brilliant scarlet to orange-red blooms that create a fiery display in the landscape. Native to the temperate forests of Chile and Argentina, this species is highly valued as one of the most striking flowering trees in the Southern Hemisphere.
This evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub or small tree grows with an upright, often multi-trunked form and can reach 20–30 feet tall under ideal conditions. Its narrow, leathery leaves are deep green and provide a rich backdrop for its spectacular floral display.
In late spring to early summer, the Chilean Firebush produces dense clusters of tubular, waxy flowers with recurved tips, forming intense displays of red-orange “flame-like” blooms. These flowers are highly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators, making it an excellent wildlife-friendly ornamental.

Firebush Germination:
Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours. A thermos will help keep the water warm.
Cold stratify by placing the seeds in a bag of moist vermiculite for 60 days. Be sure to periodically check them so they don't dry out. Keep it moist at all times, but Never wet.
Use a well mixed & well draining "soilless" potting mix. Don't use regular commercial potting soils.
Use a heated propagator to keep the soil temperature at 70 degrees F.
Sow the seeds on top of the soil, and cover with a very thin layer of sand as they need light to germinate. Place them in a sunny window, or use a bright grow light.
Periodically keep moisture levels in check. If it starts to dry, mist them with a spray bottle until moist.
Patience is required as germination is erratic with Firebush seeds. Germination will take place anywhere between 14-60 days, so don't toss out what doesn't sprout quickly as they are still good and only need more time.
