BLUE CROWN PASSION FLOWER VINE SEEDS (Passiflora caerulea)

The Blue Passion Flower (Passiflora caerulea), also known as Blue Crown Passion Vine, is a fast-growing climbing plant prized for its exotic, intricate flowers and strong wildlife appeal. This vigorous vine is especially popular among butterfly and hummingbird enthusiasts due to its ability to attract a wide range of pollinators throughout the growing season.

Native to South America, this hardy perennial vine produces striking flowers that can reach 3–8 inches in diameter, featuring a unique layered structure of petals, filaments, and intricate floral patterns. Each bloom typically lasts only a single day, but the plant produces an abundance of flowers over the season, creating a continuous display of color and form.

This climbing vine can grow up to 30 feet long, using curling tendrils to attach itself to fences, trellises, arbors, and walls. Its deeply lobed, glossy green leaves provide dense coverage, making it both ornamental and functional as a natural privacy screen.

USDA Hardiness Zones: 5–9

Blue Passion Flower Germination:

1) Scarify them by rubbing with sandpaper.

 2) Soak them for one to two days in warm water. Change water daily.

 3) Use a heated propagator. The seeds need heat to sprout. Ideally the temperature during the night should be 68 degrees Fahrenheit, and the daytime temperature should be 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Keeping the temperature a constant 79 degrees Fahrenheit works well too.

4) Place the well-soaked seeds on the surface of damp potting mix, pat down, but Do Not Cover since they Need Light to germinate.

5) Seeds heated with a propagator to the proper temperature, some seeds will sprout within 2 weeks, while most others may take up to 10 weeks,...so a bit of patience will be required as with any Exotic or Tropical seeds.
