Mimosa Tree Seeds (Albizia julibrissin) Persian Silk Tree
The Albizia julibrissin, commonly known as Mimosa Tree or Persian Silk Tree, is a fast-growing deciduous ornamental tree native to Asia and a member of the Fabaceae family. It was named after Italian nobleman Filippo degli Albizzi, who introduced it to Europe in the 18th century.
This elegant tree typically grows in a vase-like form, reaching 20–40 feet tall with a broad umbrella-shaped crown. It is highly valued for its tropical appearance, airy fern-like foliage, and abundant fluffy pink flowers that create a striking summer display.
The fragrant blossoms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. One of its most unique characteristics is its sensitive leaflets, which close at night or when touched, adding a dynamic element to the plant’s behavior and appeal.
Mimosa trees are fast growers and are often used as ornamental focal points in landscapes or trained as bonsai specimens due to their delicate foliage and sculptural branching structure.
